Ethiopia: Trade Authority Distributes Sugar, Oil, Flour

The Ethiopian Trade Competition & Consumer Protection Authority (TCCPA) is distributing 250,000ql of sugar for residents in Addis Ababa to satisfy an expected increase in the demand for sugar in the New Year, and announced that there is enough stock to quickly respond to any shortage that may appear.

 
There is also 350,000ql of sugar already up for sale through bid.
 
The quota for the distribution of flour and edible oils has increased. For instance, the quota of litres of edible oil and wheat that used to be distributed in Addis has increased from 27,000lt to 44,000lt and from 500,000ql to 700,000ql, respectively.
 
The Authority stated that depending on the demand of the regions, the increment in quota will be enforced. It also promised to control price hikes on the market for the holiday.
